First and last

Yesterday marked a month since I started the mini modules topic on the NGRM forum. At that stage there were just three modules, two curves and one straight, being built but I had enough track for six more curves to complete a circle and some additional straights to extend the circuit.

I was initially intending to build just two straights, to make an oval, but four gives much more scope for variety.

Options A, B and C are shown in the slideshow below. Two SLTs give the option for end to end layouts, as do a pair of short (non-scenic) fiddlesticks.

As they appear in this slideshow The Ditch is almost complete, just another couple of coats of PVA being needed to give more depth to the water, but Dyke Gap’s scenery requires more attention. I was undecided on whether the green-painted areas should be all grass or have a patch of beach on the seaward side of the wall… And that’s what I’ve been working on today.

Why “First and last” for the title of this blog entry? Because the layout in the video includes the first module to be completed, Lone Pine Curve, and the last, Dyke Gap, sandwiched between the two single track termini.
