More early morning freight working

Diesel #15 isn’t often seen in the station at Grande, it is primarily a freight loco and most freight operations take place away from the passenger station. However, it arrived very early this morning with four empty hoppers which the station pilot (#18) tripped two at a time to the mine at Rio Paleta for loading.

There were already two cars loaded at the mine so #18 pulled these and left the first two empties for loading. On arrival back at Grande #18 stabled the loaded hoppers and headed back up the hill with the remaining two empty hoppers, by which time the first pair of empties had been loaded. The two empties were left at the mine and #18 again descended the hill to Grande.

The outbound train had to wait for railcar #20 to depart for Cuarto de Pulgada before #15 could set off for San Fernandez, by which time it was time for me to go to work.

There’s no point in having a model railroad if you don’t play trains on it!
