Mind your head

The front coach of this train was originally On30, converted to On18 when Muston Sands was built and back to On30 again when Muston was regauged.

The second coach was originally built in On18 scale for Allt-Na-Ballt and Lochside, hence the restricted loading gauge. Passengers have to mind their heads when entering and leaving! I’ve converted this coach to On30 this afternoon, using a OO coach bogie for the underframe.

Transferal of this coach from Allt-Na-Ballt means the estate railway is freight only until such time as I complete the work required in adapting the two remaining On18 coaches to run on the pizza layout. The corners of the roofs and steps have been trimmed but still need rounding off to allow for the tight radius and limited clearance in the tunnel.

Hopefully at least one coach will be completed in time for “The Glorious Twelfth” when the laird’s guests will need to use the railway to get to the grouse moor.

Meanwhile, back at Muston, I’ve added some (!) grass to the area around the C&W siding, completing the work in this corner of the layout.
