I posted about converting a Tri-ang Big Big Train coach into a railcar on the 18th. I’ve decided that the bodywork, in particular the ribbed steel sides, would appear to modern for a steam railmotor so it’s going to be a diesel car instead. Splitting the coach body lengthways using an angle grinder has removed enough material to make it more suitable for the FCPyF loading gauge when reassembled. The angle grinder also made short work of removing the corridor connection at the driving end. A new window has been cut in the driving end to complete work on the coach for today.
A bank holiday tomorrow means I’ll have plenty of time for applying filler as required to patch up the plastic surgery before addressing the matter of a suitable mechanism for the railcar to ride on.
