I’ve looked closer at Muston Sands and reckon it could be converted to On30 quite easily so the three smaller On18 coaches have been transferred to Allt Na Ballt. Two of them have closer coupling than the third and have needed the corners of the steps and roofs trimming to accommodate the tight radius curve used on the pizza layout. These corners have been cut roughly while trial and error is used to see how much actually needs removing, the job will be tidied up later.
The remaining two coaches, and a pair of vans, have been removed from their On18 underframes and are now sitting temporarily on On30 replacements. Some levelling is needed to get the floors to match before new couplers can be added.
The small locos on the other two tracks are surplus to requirements on the FCPyF and will be reallocated to Muston Sands. On the middle road are numbers 48, 17 and 57, on the back road are two tram locos, T8 and T3, and old number 1. Since taking the photo I’ve given it some more thought and 48 will be replaced by number 31, which is the loco to the left on the front line in the header photo. Forney number 4, behind 31 in the image duplicated below, may also be added to the list.
Some of the smaller railcars will also be transferred to the Seaside Line.
Apart from the obvious replacement of the running line, work on Muston Sands will mainly involve removing the siding and adding either a lean-to or a closed door to block the opening in the end of the goods shed. This is because the shed is not quite tall enough to allow On18 wagons through the doorway, rail access will be assumed to be off-stage at the unseen end of the shed and at a slightly lower level to afford enough headroom.
