Sand Creek Junction

Just an idea at the moment but this a plan for a simple American layout.

My US N gauge stock is all fitted with Rapido style couplers, not perfect for shunting but I’m not going to spend money converting them because my main modelling interest now lies in larger scales. Sand Creek Junction’s operation would mainly feature through running from fiddleyard to fiddleyard with trains being held on the siding to allow others to pass. The scene is one end of a passing siding with a branch and team track leading off the siding. All running lines are bi-directional. The exit to the right fiddleyard would be disguised by an overbridge while the main and branch to the left would disappear into dense woodland. The team track would only be lightly used, mainly to set out cars requiring repairs. An ancient doodlebug will provide a passenger service, a mail contract being the main reason for the daily round trip.

For additional interest trains running to or from the branch could arrive on the siding from the left fiddleyard, the loco would then be detached (off stage in the right fiddleyard) and run round the train before departing back to the left fiddleyard again.
