Prairies on the Pampas

An unidentified Hunslet 2-6-2T at Cuarto Sheds, pictured while still painted in “photographic grey” which dates the image as very soon after these locos were delivered in 1904.


The ‘Prairie” tanks are a slightly smaller version of the same builder’s 1892 built No.5 for the Tralee and Dingle. The footplate is lowered at the cab end to reduce the loading gauge, enabling the class to work on branch lines with restricted clearance.
